University of Baguio Announces Recipients of Health Carousel Philippines Faculty Development Scholarships
Ronald Lapaz and Donna Marie Tibay (pictured second and third from left), both of whom are nursing school faculty members at the University of Baguio, have been awarded Faculty Development Scholarships, from Health Carousel Philippines, Inc. The scholarships cover the costs of tuition, fees, and books, as well as provide subsidies for their Master's thesis.
The Faculty Development Scholarship program aims to help alleviate in-country and global nursing shortages by developing additional nurse educators. A shortage of nurse educators is widely regarded as one of the most remediable causes of RN shortages. In the US alone, some 45,000 qualified students are turned away from nursing programs owing to a lack of educators.
Connie de la Cruz and Nyra Colinares, co-founders of HCPI and Vicky Doctor, also of HCPI, were on hand for the ceremony.
