Foundation Sponsors International DAISY Day
Coventry, UK (June 16, 2023) - Health Carousel Foundation is proud to have sponsored International DAISY Day 2023. The event was attended by hundreds of nurses from around the world, all of whom recognize the impact that meaningful nurse recognition has on keeping nurses engaged in the profession. The theme of #IDD23 was "Why Our Nurses and Midwives Stay."
The Health Carousel team in attendance featured associate chief nursing officer and vice president of Health Carousel International, Donita Ross, and Andrew Lingo, executive director of the Health Carousel Foundation.
The day before IDD 2023, the Health Carousel team was treated to a tour of Coventry University School of Nursing, Midwifery and Health's state-of-the-art simulation lab and special presentations at the 1,005-bed University Hospital Coventry. Donita Ross is shown below inside a simulation ambulance at the university.

The following day was officially International DAISY Day and likewise featured excellent presentations from nursing leaders from around the world.

The DAISY Foundation is a not-for-profit organization established in memory of J. Patrick Barnes by members of his family. Patrick died at the age of 33 in late 1999 from complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP), a little-known but not uncommon auto-immune disease. (DAISY is an acronym for Diseases Attacking the Immune System.)
